| Bio: | I'm into being definite about things. I tend to think that if you don't make up your own mind about things, that someone will try to make it up for you. I'm also not a great follower of directions....I tend to believe that printed directions are more suggestions than absolute mandates. Sometimes this works out better than others. I don't like being in the in-between phases of life but live for change. I love snowflakes but hate snow; feathers fascinate me, but I am terrified by birds. "Do I contradict myself?/Very well, then, I contradict myself;/(I am large—I contain multitudes.)" I have my assortment of obsessions....I'm rabidly devoted to Walt Whitman. Reading Leaves of Grass is about as close to being religious as I get. I married a wonderful Bear in Las Vegas in 2000. We aren't particularly traditional people (I can hear the snorts of amusement from the people who've met us). I have two degrees in English lit, and I prefer to think of myself as an artist when it comes to the "so what do you do" sorts of conversations, even though I have a "real job" that I generally enjoy. I just started work on a doctoral program that is going to take me 327 years to finish. I paint and make jewelry (I generally work in silver and very rarely do much with beads anymore) and I do pottery (although I haven't been at a wheel in a ridiculous amount of time.) I would kill to learn how to blow glass. I flatter myself to think that I resemble Amadeo Modigliani's muse/girlfriend, Jeanne Hebuterne, but without all of the tortured, pregnant, suicidal bits. I also love jewelry and good accessories more than any three people probably should. In the Myers-Briggs schema, I'm an ENFP: "They can't bear to miss out on what is going on around them; they must experience, first hand, all the significant social events that affect our lives. And then they are eager to relate the stories they've uncovered, hoping to disclose the "truth" of people and issues, and to advocate causes. This strong drive to unveil current events can make them tireless in conversing with others, like fountains that bubble and splash, spilling over their own words to get it all out."
